My name is Doug De Boer and I sm currently in my twenty-seventh year of teaching high school mathematics here at North Iowa.  I am a 1980 (not 1880 like some of my students think) graduate of what was then Ocheyedan High School, home of the Mounders (named after the Ocheyedan Mound).  In 1984 I received my BA from what was then known as Westmar College in LeMars.  I spent the first three years of my career at Lakota High school and am now in my twenty-fourth year in the Buffalo Center building.  I am also in my second year as the middle school cross country coach.

My wife of twenty-six years, JoAnn teaches English here at North Iowa.  We are the proud parents of two daughters, both of whom are now adults.  Abbey Gerzema is starting her second year as a middle school language arts teacher in Perry.  She is married to Brent Gerzema who works for the AEA based out of Fort Dodge.  Our other daughter, Stephanie, is a junior at Allen College in Waterloo.  She is pursuing her BSN in nursing, while volunteering at the hospital and working at a day care.

My hobbies include building and destroying decks in my back yard, fantasy football, Vikings and Twins and some coin collecting.  My favorite way to spend my spare time is with family.

I am looking forward to spending time with the students and meeting all the parents and others who play such an important role in the lives of our North Iowa students.  Let's all work together to make the 2010-11 school year one we can all be proud of!
