TALENTED AND GIFTED PROGRAM
NORTH IOWA
PHILOSOPHY
Excellence in education is the goal for all school districts. If schools are to accomplish this goal, they must be responsible for educating students to their fullest potential. In order to do this for all students, the schools must meet the unique needs of the gifted child.
RATIONALE
Curriculum for the gifted and talented must encompass elements which distinguish it from being suitable for the education of all children. The special educational needs of the gifted result from these characteristics that differentiate them from typical learners. Therefore, a curriculum that is clearly related to the differentiating characteristics of these students can most effectively meet their unique cognitive and affective educational needs.
