My name is Rita Salazar. I was born and raised in the Fairmont, Minnesota area. I have studied at Oklahoma State University, graduated from University of South Dakota with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and with Masters of Arts in world and American history, and have done post-graduate studies at South Dakota State University in sociology and geography.
My husband of 37 years is a business professor at the University of South Dakota. I have two children. My daughter is completing her graduate studies in journalism at University of Missouri, Columbia, MO and my son is completing his graduate studies in computer security at Dakota State University, Madison, SD.
In my pastime, I love to read books about the world geography and history and to travel. I have travelled to Colombia (South America), Costa Rica, England, Scotland, France, Spain, and Florence, Italy. I also lived in Colombia for four years.
I desire to share with my students and others an appreciation of the beauty and uniqueness in all of us wherever we are in the world and time.
