This course is a college level course that is designed to give students a basic understanding of College Biology. It is a more in-depth treatment of topics introduced in biology. Students will be expected to have a workload comparable to an actually college Biology class. There is also a lab component in the class that will emphasize biotechnology and basic lab procedures. A grade of B or better in Biology is recommended. NIACC describes this has a biology course for non-science majors that covers cellular structure and function, reproduction, inheritance, evolution, and organ system structure and function in animals and plants. Students who successfully complete this NIACC course will earn three semester hours of college credit. Students who successfully complete the concurrent NIACC Biological Principles Laboratory course earn an additional one semester hour of college credit. We usually do both the course and the lab.
