Hello. My name is Thelma Adams and I am a teacher at North Iowa Middle School. Most of my day is spent working with 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade special needs students in pullout programs for math, reading and language arts. I also teach 7th grade tech. reading which is an exploratory class set up on a trimester schedule.
After graduation from William Penn College I began my career as an elementary teacher for the Thompson Community School District. I took time off to raise two boys and one husband. During this time I taught the GED program, worked for NIACC, worked for the AEA out of Clear Lake, and substituted in area schools for 18 years. During that time I also attended classes at UNI and Morningside where I took special education classes and earned endorsements in reading, math, special education, and learning disabilities.
I have been teaching sp. ed. classes at North Iowa since 1994.
