6th Grade Cultural Arts

 

            This 12 week class will include beginning Spanish activities with an oral emphasis. Besides a general review of fifth grade work, we will work on greetings, clothes, numbers, alphabet, map (Spanish countries and their capitals), and telling time. The students will complete art projects that build on previous learning while working with new media and using various ways to approach good composition and drawing fundamentals. Art criticism and sharing projects will be a part of our art activities in grade six.

 

 

Still Life – Andrew Wyeth, watercolor colored pencils

Color theory and nature contest composition

Primitive Art Style – Grandma Moses, cave paintings, El Greco, pastels

Early American architecture – slab construction with clay

Portraiture – Rembrandt and Frida Kahlo, tempera paint and skin tones
